Audio tweets!

At the first seminar, in the morning group, the idea of a twitter-like service for broadcasting audio tweets came up. I found some services that makes this possible.

AudioBoo have a five minute limit on each recording (free account) which could be suitable for everyday thoughts. Easy to set up for posting on other sites like Twitter or Facebook. Free app for both iOS and Android makes posting on the go easy.

Shoutomatic, audible status updates. 30 seconds of recording time for each shout makes only short audio messages, much like tweets or other status updates, possible. Free iOS and Facebook app. Every shout gets it's own QR-code.

Soundcloud allow for up to 120 minutes of total uploaded audio (free account) which should be more than enough for three or four audio programs if you want to. Many ways of sharing available.

The different services look promising I think. I haven't tried any of them just read about them but it seems like they could be useful and deliver the feature requested at the seminar, don't you think?

If you're really into broadcasting radio/audio over the Internet you may also like SHOUTcast by Nullsoft.

With SHOUTcast you can set up your own streaming radio/audio station for free or listen to any of the over 45.000 stations available. The service has been around since 1999 but I thought it was worth mentioning anyway.

  1. Soundcloud is a company the former KTH/Media technology students have formed. I tried to get the founder to come last year and talk about the future of music, but we couldn't get it to work since he and the company are in Germany (Berlin)
