Radio in the movies

Here are some suggestions for radio-related movies:
  • "Radio days" (Woody Allen, 1987). A comedy that looks back on an American family's life during the golden age of radio (1930's-1940's). Imdb, Wikipedia
  • "Private parts" (1997). The auto-biographical story of the foul-mouthed radio rebel Howard Stern. Imdb, Wikipedia
  • "The king's speech" (2010). Widely acclaimed British historical drama. Imdb, Wikipeida

  2. The Boat that Rocked (2009). The movie plays out in 1966 and is a comedy about a pirate radio station broadcasting offshore. Even though it's a fictitious radio station, one can assume it's based on that periods different pirate radio stations (Like Radio Caroline) and captures the thrilling feeling of listening to a station breaking the rules. The movie came in mind when I heard Roger Wallis talking about radio when he was younger and how you used to sneak out and listen to certain radio stations you only could recieve by night.

    Good Morning, Vietnam (1987). Since we're on the subject of comedy radio movies, Robin Williams movie "Good Morning, Vietnam" is also one of the classics. In this one he plays a DJ broadcasting in the US Army stationed in Vietnam, who doesn't play by the standard format.

    Those were the ones I could think about right now at least. =)
